Barbara Rich

Barbara M. Rich was born in Red Bluff, California and grew up on a dairy in Northern California.  She attended Brigham Young University and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Child Development and Family Relations.

She and her husband, Charles met and married in Utah, then moved to Rancho Cucamonga in 1981. Charles has a Master's Degree in Social Work and is the Executive Director of David and Margaret Youth and Family Services in La Verne. They have six children who have all been students in Central School District, and they now have 24 grandchildren.

Committed to education, Barbara feels it is important for all children to have opportunities to learn and be prepared to meet the challenges of the future.  She enjoys her work as a substitute teacher in a local school district and has spent time as a volunteer reading mentor in Central School District.  She recognizes the importance of parents and teachers working together to create a climate of success for children.

Barbara states, "I believe that the key to successful education of our young people lies within the family, and that increased parental involvement and effective communication between home and school will strengthen our schools and improve student performance.  I am committed to ensuring that the needs of all students in Central School District are met so that they may receive a quality education."
