Central Homeschool Online Independent Course for Education (CHOICE)

CHOICE is a blended online homeschool learning program for district K – 8th grade students who are seeking flexible, individualized education.  In the CHOICE program the parent/guardian serves as the at-home Learning Coach.  The blended online program offers our students a high-quality, tuition-free alternative to the traditional classroom-based learning experience through virtual classroom sessions monitored by a Central School District CHOICE Coordinator.

  • Tuition-free public school program offered by the Central School District
  • Students work flexibly from home with their parent/guardian Learning Coach
  • Blended online instruction and teacher interaction
  • Online state-approved curriculum provided by K12.com
  • Optional tutoring sessions for students provided throughout the week
  • Progress is monitored through district benchmark assessments and state SBAC summative assessments 

A CHOICE education is a partnership between a family and teacher.

  • Parent/Guardian is the at home learning coach who supports his/her child by creating a workspace that is free of distraction, establishing a weekly schedule for online course work access, and monitoring attendance and course work completion.
  • CHOICE Coordinator provides the education support through regular meetings and check-ins, progress monitoring, assessment analysis and recommendations, and consultations with families.
  • K12.com provides the online lessons, interactive activities, textbooks and workbooks.
